Enjoying Life to its Fullest: One Couple Shares the Joy of Worry-Free Living at The Manor at York Town

November 30, 2021

Gerry and Jim have lived in Bucks County for many years. Raising their family in the area, they’ve enjoyed the local lifestyle with all of their favorite shops and restaurants close by, but owning a home throughout their retired years became quite stressful. That’s when Gerry and Jim began desiring an easier lifestyle, and looking at retirement communities in the area.

“We originally began looking for retirement communities because we didn’t want all of the worries that come with owning a home. There’s a lot of things you have to take care of and maintain. I just wanted life to be easier for the both of us,” Gerry explains.

“When we first found The Manor at York Town we loved it. We really wanted to stay in the Bucks County area to be close to all of our favorite, familiar places. What we love about The Manor is that it truly feels like a community. It’s not overwhelmingly large like some of the other places we looked at,” she adds.

Gerry and Jim have been married for 63 years, all of which they’ve lived in the Bucks County area. When they found The Manor, they were thrilled to discover a local retirement community with all of the amenities they desired and more.  “We looked at other communities, a couple of them were brand new. We preferred The Manor for several reasons. It’s in the Bucks County area which we love, it’s a nice size, and the community is just beautiful and very well-kept,” Gerry affirms.

An Easy, Convenient Lifestyle…

Gerry and Jim moved to The Manor in April of 2021. Previously living in a townhome, they’re thrilled with their new apartment and the beautiful surroundings of the community. “Our apartment is very nice. We really love our balcony,” Gerry notes.  And they have certainly enjoyed the perks of a worry-free lifestyle.

In addition to routine housekeeping and maintenance available, within the community residents have access to five-star dining with seasonal menus and local ingredients. The Manor’s luxury cuisine eliminates the worry of cooking each night while providing residents with meaningful opportunities for social engagement.

And who could forget The Manor’s Community Life calendar? With fun activities and events scheduled each day that are personalized to residents’ unique interests, there’s always something to do. “Jim likes playing water volleyball with the team they have here and he also likes playing Wii bowling. I like going to the cardio fitness classes they have each week,” Gerry says.

Whether residents are making a splash during water volleyball or staying fit with the community’s personal trainer, there are plentiful activities to enjoy each day. And Director of Community Life, Robyn Fine, is always encouraged when residents bring new interests to her attention. “It’s rewarding to organize activities and events that residents truly enjoy. We love hearing their different interests and hobbies and figuring out how to incorporate them into our community life programming,” Robyn shares.

While Gerry and Jim stay active with friends, they’re consistently pleased with The Manor’s kind and caring team members.

Thrilled with their decision to call The Manor home, Gerry and Jim are pleased to settle into their worry-free lifestyle. As they develop new friendships and discover new interests, they are excited to discover all The Manor has to offer.
