Once Future Residents Club Members, This Manor Couple Loves Life at The Manor
June 24, 2022
Once Future Residents Club Members, Gerry and Jim now live happily at The Manor at York Town in lower Bucks County, PA, because they are “surrounded by a friendly, attentive, supportive team and lovely neighbors in a beautiful courtyard environment that feels like we’re living in an exclusive resort,” according to Gerry.
Gerry and Jim lived in, and raised a large family, in the Doylestown area for many years, and then downsized from their large family home to a townhome in Doylestown after their children were grown. After that move, they divided their time between living in Bucks County in warmer weather and living in Florida during the cooler seasons, but the time came to move again after Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
“We wanted to stay in the area with which we were most familiar, near family and friends, where we knew all of the local sites and attractions, but we didn’t want to have to navigate stairs as we got older, nor have any of the other responsibilities that accompany homeownership,” Gerry shares.
The couple visited numerous senior living communities in the region but returned several times to The Manor at York Town because they were most impressed with the beautiful community and the many amenities, as well as the superior customer service afforded them by the team at The Manor.
“We were very selective when looking at apartments to move into, and we had specific requirements that we were seeking in a new residence. I was extremely impressed by how graciously and cheerfully Courtney Gawthrop, Director of Sales and Marketing, handled all of our concerns and requests. She never pressured us or made us feel like we had to take an available apartment that didn’t fulfill the requirements on our wish list. She patiently reassured us that the right residence would become available, and suddenly, it did,” explains Gerry. As members of The Future Residents Club, Gerry and Jim enjoyed The Manor’s exclusive benefits while waiting for their preferred apartment to become available.
“Interestingly, one of the greatest benefits of our moving to The Manor has been that Jim can swim regularly in the large and heated indoor pool, and play water volleyball with the resident team, as well as he can use the other fitness facilities, with our neighbors. He would never be getting this much exercise in such a social environment if we had stayed in our townhome,” says Gerry.
She continues, “There is always something fun to do, whether it is playing cards or billiards upstairs in the Community Room, or watching movies in the newly renovated Movie Room, or attending Happy Hour in the gorgeous gardens in the summer time. Robyn Fine, Director of Community Life, keeps us all very actively engaged with lots of entertaining events and excursions.
Like other residents, Gerry and Jim enjoy living independently within a close knit, caring community. Gerry adds, “I was so touched last winter when Wendy Petro, the Executive Director, called me and asked if I would like her to come up and make me a cup of tea.” Gerry adds, “We feel very well cared for living here.”
