January 9, 2023

Wendy Petro is the Executive Director of The Manor at York Town, a premier independent living community in Jamison, Bucks County, PA, part of the Liberty Lutheran family of services. She will be celebrating twenty-three years of service this year. Wendy began her career at The Manor in 2000, as the Project Coordinator in their sales trailer. Her primary role was to market the brand new, luxury campus to the community and help new residents customize their apartment homes. In 2001, when The Manor opened, Wendy was the Business Office Manager, and by 2006, her passion and commitment to serving the community was quickly recognized and she was promoted to Executive Director. She and her team have been devoted to serving residents and their families ever since.

A Family Atmosphere at The Manor

“There is a strong family atmosphere here, among the residents and team members. I was a new mother when I started working here, so I occasionally brought my son to work during weekends and off hours. Throughout the years, he enjoyed interacting with the residents when visiting, so it was natural for him to want to work at The Manor when he was in high school. He started working here as a dishwasher and occasionally served on the maintenance team. Working at The Manor is a great experience for many local high school students, and the residents love the intergenerational relationships that are formed.”

During the pandemic, when there were staffing challenges, I occasionally stayed overnight to work the front desk,” she adds. Basically, I do whatever is necessary to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. I want to make sure that our 90+ residents are happy, content, and enjoying all of the luxuries and amenities The Manor has to offer.”

Wendy is known for going above and beyond her duties as Executive Director. Several residents speak highly of Wendy, and are eager to share stories about Wendy’s caring nature. As current resident, Ann S., explains, “She is so warm and caring that it makes us feel like we are family.”

Wendy also enjoys using her interior decorating skills in her role as Executive Director. “We continue to update The Manor, and last year, we focused on refreshing the first floor hallways, by repainting, re-carpeting, and replacing furnishings and accessories, to maintain the elegance of the community,” she describes. We have two hallways left to complete on the first floor and are excited that new furnishings will be arriving later this spring,” she adds.

Wendy enjoys seeing residents engaged and enjoying an active lifestyle. “Our residents lead busy, active lives both inside and outside the community. There is so much to do at The Manor, from working out in our Fitness Center, playing water volleyball in the indoor pool, taking trips in our community van to the theater and cultural destinations, to socializing in the Game Room, we accommodate a variety of interests and levels of activity.

Thank you, Wendy, for twenty-three years of dedicated, committed service and for making The Manor at York Town Bucks County’s premier choice for retirement living.
